$59 per year
The smart choice for professional actors, theatre educators, coaches, or anyone building a long-term performance career. Every year the monologues that "age out" of the 20 year span will be added to a separate section and new ones will be added. Plus, there's a classical monologue section being developed right now!
$149 one-time
This means the character has a clear objective and actively needs something from the other person: empathy, acknowledgment, an answer, a gesture, for them to say something or do something in response.
Casting wants to see the character working for a response and trying to affect the other person.
Some monologues read all-one-note, meaning the character is only using one tactic to get the reaction or response they want. The monologues in this database have more than one tactic, so you can show casting, directors, grad audition panels, etc, that you know how to pivot to get what you want.
Contemporary. Not modern. Most auditions require a contemporary monologue, usually categorized into comedic or dramatic. These days, they’re much more nuanced than that—serio-comic, dark comedy, tragic comedy, etc. But what’s important is that they’re contemporary.
No monologue in this database is more than 20 years old. That means each year the monologues that "age-out" will be put in a separate section and new ones will be added.

$29 for 3 month subscription (plenty of time to find and test new pieces for your next audition)
$59 for a full year subscription (perfect if you’ve got auditions, showcases, or grad school prep coming up)
$149 for lifetime access (for actors who want a long-term audition resource that evolves with them)
There will be a minimum of 200 monologues listed in this database.
This database, at present, is solely contemporary monologues, written in the last 20 years.
There is a mix of dramatic, comedic, and a handful of absurd. The majority of them are for actors in their 20's and 30's but there are some for late teens and 40's as well.
I'm developing a section for classical monologues.
Plus, each year the ones that "age out" of the "written in the last 20 years guarantee" will be filed into a separate section.
Due to copyright law, the Monologue Database can’t provide the full monologue.
But you can see the first and last lines of the piece and there are links for where you can get the play.
Instead of reading through dozens of plays trying to find a single usable monologue, you walk into the bookstore or library with a curated shortlist of plays (from the ones you bookmarked) that already contain audition-ready material.
When I built the Monologue Database, inclusion was the starting point.
Out of 200 monologues:
64 are written by female or non-binary playwrights
28 are written specifically for LGBTQIA+ actors
53 are written for actors of the Global Majority
126 are written for female-identifying actors
And beyond the stats: every piece was chosen because it offers clear objectives, multiple tactics, and dynamic storytelling, not stereotypes.
That means you won’t find tired or problematic monologues by old white guys! Not in my database.
Every single monologue has been chosen because it:
Has clear objectives (your character wants something and that makes your job easier because it’s active)
Has multiple tactics (so you can show your skills)
Been written in the last 20 years (so you’re not stuck with outdated, overdone material)
